As a child of the late 70's early 80's... I can vouch that a consistent presence of comfort and care came from a daily dose of Mr.Rogers Neighborhood.
I was lucky to have a great family, support system and lots of love- for those kids that maybe weren't as blessed I can imagine the impact of this special show was far more meaningful. A person that was there everyday speaking seemingly just to you about how wonderful and unique you are.

Illustration Friday (IF:) theme of the week is "popular" which I think could apply to v-day... and it doesn't take a genius to figure out why. The more "love"and attention you get- the more popular you are. I like Mr. R's approach- we're ALL special and deserving of care, credit and respect.

So on this most commercialized of all days- where if you are single you either a player or pariah... I'm kickin it old school lil kid valentines day and wishing you all a big hug from me- your illustrating neighbor.

IF: suspense

This weeks 'theme' is suspense... while I had multiple ideas something about this concept stuck with me.
Is s/he bringing her a scrub brush for her back? a loofa on a stick? maybe even a plunger to fix some other plumbing in the bathroom?
OR
Could it be something more sinister?
I find the suspense is in not knowing... all the guessing and theories.
I'll leave the story to you.

Happy New Year one and all!
It's the festive year of the dragon.
Inspired by a doodle in a sketchbook from awhile ago I thought I'd create for your viewing pleasure a dream dragon- all fire and coziness taking it's pet girl up to the top of a mountain for a snooze and a snuggle.

(yes, I realize dragons don't snuggle... but hey... I'm hoping 2012 will be a gentle and protective dragon that makes for great luck and comfort).

THIS week's *actual* illustration Friday theme is "prepare"...

One of my best gal-pals & college roomie along with her husby are expecting a lil boy next spring! Hurrah!
So I'm knitting them a baby blanket.
What says "prepare" more than a baby blanket? It's nesting personified!

During their bi-coastal visit her mom and partner threw a wonderful baby shower / open house. We've all gone down different life paths- starting with art and branching out- but it's such a treat to come "back to the beginning" and stay in touch with such great people. I finally got to meet a girlfriends baby and husband! Time really does just fly...fly...fly.

In that glowingly brightly hued and cozy spice scented house we all gathered to celebrate, laugh and help them prepare for their bundle of wonderful. Congrats Momma and Daddy! Can't wait to *meet* him- officially.

A long overdue Illustration Friday creation- but now a new favorite.

It's funny how we all run around trying new things and new places- how the world is a much much smaller place than it was even a generation ago. Then people could live entire lives in one town without a thought, entire families lived in the same houses (by choice)... setting down roots wasn't a question- it was a way of life.

Now it's a conscious thought, a choice and in that- a state of being grounded and home in your own two shoes.

So I've been working for some time on a children's book story... and finally... FINALLY I feel like I'm getting somewhere with the illustrations and clarifying my "style".
In the upcoming months I'll be patching together a dummy and submitting to publishers. Here's hoping I get some positive results.
When I was a kid and had a picture book I always loved looking for the details... to find the little things like a hidden critter or something recognizable that I'd find in my own home. I could believe the story if I felt like I could jump into the picture.
It's funny the things we're influenced by.

I'll post more as images get polished- this one still has some ruffles to smooth out, but I hope you enjoy it non-the-less.

Jessica Hische is an illustrator, typographer and designer whose work I've peeked in on from time to time over the years and have great respect for. Her site entitled "jessica hische is awesome"... is by no means false advertising.

She devised this amazingly funny (and truthful) "should I work for free?" flowchart that's pretty great.
I need to get a print of this at some point when I have wall space again... and when anyone asks I can point to it and wear a knowing grin.

While researching articles on licensing artwork and the "business" of art I came across and article she wrote that I found not only helpful but a great read.

This week's Illo Friday theme is "sink". Of course I thought of all kinds of water basin ideas- but instead came up with SNOW- you sink right into it. What with the holidays I had to post something festive and beautiful.

Living in New England there's a kind of magic about the holidays that only seems to truly arrive when the white stuff does. Of course we're now at Dec.21st and STILL no snow- but here's hoping we'll get a white Christmas asap. (but not too much). So to my followers, friends, clients and family~ many thanks for your support, encouragement and enthusiasm, it helps me to make images I hope to share with you all in the coming year.

This weeks Illustration Friday is theme'd: Separated.

Yes, there's a story behind this image. On one side you have me in Boston (complete with a map in the texture)... on the other my best friend C who just so happens to live in Singapore (again, map in the texture). We met many years ago while he attended a college here and I befriended a whole bunch of his flat mates. Over a game of poker and a concert to see Tori Amos we became fast friends and over the years have remained close despite all kinds of life obstacles.

In this day and age the question I have is how separated ARE we really? Besides the obvious distance and lack of ability to join in activities- give one another a hug during good or bad times... it's still very much possible to be and remain close with someone on the other side of the planet. Rare? perhaps. But then again he's not unfamiliar with long distance connections and me? well I'm a strange lil bird.

The point is- I like to think that we're only as separated from one another as we allow ourselves to be. I'm not talking about racism, agism, politics... well any of the "isms"... that's a whole other can of worms. I'm talking tech. People complain left and right about how isolated technology makes us and how close can your friendships be with with a gadget in-between? They're not wrong- but like anything there's always another side to that coin.

In my case- a half year with a bad back has caused me to miss countless social gatherings, birthdays, a wedding, traveling opportunities, art openings and more. It's landed me severely lacking in close physical contact with my friends- but with my mac I can be stuck in my studio/home for days and not feel lonely or isolated.

I'm lucky to have those close friendships... maybe friendships are like architecture- without a solid base and sturdy frame... it doesn't matter how pretty it is... how many cables you have coming in or going out- no amount of tech will keep the thing upright through rough weather or stand the test of time.

It's a day that will live in infamy- and in the memories of historians... and the grandchildren who were told the stories at the knees of grandparents who were there.

This weeks Illo Friday word was:brigade.... being the daughter, granddaughter etc of US veterans... well... it brings much to mind- but considering the date of Dec.7th- this stuck out far more.

My house sits under the flight patterns for an international airport. When 9-11 happened and air traffic went dead for a day or two the silence was deafening- those planes so high above, never noticed them before that. I read recently about how the "zeroes" flew into the harbor on that terrible morning over family homes and people just waking up.
I though about how weird that'd be if all the planes that fly over me all the time suddenly weren't passenger planes and flew far too low for comfort. Since Vietnam the media has in different levels desensitized us to the horrors that happen- and suddenly something like Pearl Harbor is no more terrible than an episode of NCIS and less frightening than SAW (one two or three). These events and tragedies are something that happened "over there", and like a bad TV movie- the mind can change the channel if it's not invested.

If grandpa's assignment had followed through rather than being changed... he'd have been on the Arizona sleeping in his bunk- or as an officer on deck giving orders. Mum wouldn't be here, my uncle or my sister and I. It's amazing to think on and for me it's personal, it's part of my family history.
I hope I'm wrong- I hope people never forget- because remembering is learning.... and learning is to not repeat mistakes. There's no need to dwell on awful things- but it's important to repeat our cultural knowledge for future generations.

Anyhow- in this case- it's an amazing image I hope we never see again.

Today we celebrate the fallen, the brave, the silent and the missing.

North South East West- no matter the location there are those willing to give their lives to protect something greater than themselves- to safeguard homes, families and friends.
Behind each of those brave souls is a loved one waiting and wishing for their safe return home. Not everyone gets the happy ending, some get the letter often dreaded.

For my grandfather Richard Bulman USN- who narrowly missed Pearl Harbor and must have lived with heavy ghosts after his ship sunk off the coast of Africa.

For my great uncle Kenny Driscoll USAF- a fighter pilot who was last seen on the wing of his plane in the middle of the Atlantic.

For my father John Desmond USMC who lost an eye, has survived 2 bouts of cancer due to agent orange and cricks in his neck from shrapnel... PTSD hasn't been kind to his gentle spirit.
He left on patrol in a group of 3, he returned a group of 1. Semper Fi.

To these brave men and many many more- thank you. For your service, your bravery and your lives.
To the families, finance's, friends and loved ones- stay strong for them, your sacrifice is appreciated as well.
May they come home safely and soon to you... have hope.

Scary Mr.Darcy/Stripes

Ilo Friday! yes a bit late but seeing the subject matter is "late" as well... you can't fault me TOO much.

This weeks theme was "scary". Now I'm a big fan of "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen... I also realize it's fiction (much to my dismay). And a lovely commenter pointed out it's stripes too! (this weeks theme) so bonus! Two for one! :)

What I find personally scary isn't monsters or disasters, boogie men or highway robbers (all scary yes.. but that's what heroines are for). What I find scary is hoping and waiting for a Mr.Darcy that will never come... to spend a whole life waiting for love only to find what this Elizabeth Bennet has discovered... she's too late.

Illo Friday! Contraption

There has been a lot of talk recently in the US about government, politicians and biased lobbying/secret handshakes. So this weeks assignment being "contraption" I thought I'd give my take on it.

While I have my opinions and views... I mostly keep my political notions to myself. WHY? oh why? I'm an artist right? I'm supposed to be good at communicating such things or at least passionate about them. Personally? I don't like to argue, and often times when people discuss politics there's a lot of "convincing" others to see one point of view or another. I have mine, I like to listen an chat- but having anyone try to sway me or help me to convert to another belief- I just find insulting.

So my personal belief has become that all politicians (even the good ones I personally think have great ideas or are working for the people) are full of hot air. If only we could capture all their boisterous blame-game babblings I bet it could power an entire city. How bout that? No need for oil or gas... no pollution... we could bring lights and heat and electricity JUST from political banter (bullshit).

Put em to work.

Beach Therapy

For many years my mother and I have been taking rides down to the beach. Typically one would expect two ladies packing up a car with a cooler, umbrella, beach towels and camping out in the sun for the day in the summer heat- but no. Not us. We're New Englanders- hard core (hahd-coah).

So each fall, spring and winter Mum and I mosey down to the water when we need to "recharge" our internal spiritual batteries. Yeah, sometimes it's cold, sometimes it's downright frosty... but on those occasions we grab cocoa, sit in the car and play scrabble on our apple devices and watch the waves.

It's how Kairn Design got it's name- I got into the habit of building cairns from beach rocks- loaded up with prayers and wishes to be taken to sea when the tide comes in.

Recently I had the joy of taking one of these outings with not just my mom but also my great aunt- it's amazing to see how much in common 3 generations of women have- at 91 she whipped off her shoes and stockings to walk down with us and swish around in the cool water on an unusually warm day. It was memorable and wonderful.

I adore places with character and a pub-like old world/worn in feel. Plus they have a damn fine roast beef sandwich. I drew this from a photograph I took there about a year ago during a quiet lunch with my mum. And really like how this has turned out.

A Note of Thanks.

I'm a designer and illustrator well schooled in the art of Apple- but I also had the privilege of working for one the best companies in the world for just over a year. It transformed my life- I drank the "kool-aid" and it has since become a part of me and altered how I see and interact with the world- for the better.

My goal was not to use this blog for personal means- but more business and creative- however in this case the two have crossed paths. As I posted earlier the CEO of Apple has passed from this world into the great unknown iCloud in the sky. It's been a year since I departed from the big glass cube building that was my second home for a year- to follow my own dreams and creative passion, but even so I'm grateful and wanted to add my own lil note of thanks for that time and those experiences.

(And while I have photos from my life "behind the white door"- I still follow the "rules" so sorry if you're looking for insider-info.)

My first day, as a newcomer I was shown this video, and it's stuck with me ever since. And even now it makes me lil bit teary and proud to be a part of a movement and a vision. This is what I wrote in remembrance of a (yes magical) transformative stepping stone in my career and life.

I was 8 when we got our first mac. An apple IIC... and man I loved that thing, long before graphics programs and photoshop I was drawing rudimentary images with my mouse and feeling like I was in the future. Twenty years later I was a freelance illustrator (art school grad) trying to make ends meet and taking design courses to "make myself more marketable".
I needed a PT job, and figured "why not be somewhere with things I love?" Apple was already a part of my life- why not use those skills to help others and make a lil money? I figured if I was hired I'd be in some suburban mall, it would be a typical retail job with long hours and occupy all my weekends. But then Boylston Street called me in, and everything changed.

The summer I was hired to work in the then largest Apple Store in the USA- I had no direction, in my life- not really. I was too afraid to take chances with my own artwork and put it out in the world. I hadn't give up my dreams, I just couldn't really identify them with any clarity. I was making mirrors and paintings but not really doing anything with them- and all kinds of ADD when it came to sticking to any one design or product idea.

Each day I hopped on a train commuting with tons of people... walked into "the cube", donned my (then neon orange) shirt, laughed with co-workers over coffee and started my day for the first time feeling ike I was a PART of something.

Everyday I saw first hand the WOW moments Steve helped to create with his vision and innovation... how these tools we carry about all day connect us to those we love, to the businesses that support us and fuel the daily lives of people all over the world. The "family room"/third floor was always abuzz with learning and repaired lives, stories in the making.
When I would go home my face would hurt from smiling. Not just because I started out as a concierge, but because I was happy to be there... to this day all the things I learned in core- have changed how I react and interact with people- for the better.

Four years of art school didn't teach me how to sell my work or myself as the creator of it- Apple did. Believing in what you make, following your passion... it's because of what I learned that I left Boylston Street to start up my own company Kairn Design. My manager always said to "follow your passion and believe in what you do, never just follow the money"... even though I left the building I never really left apple- I now draw about 60% of the time on my iPad and spend a huge chunk of my day on my MBP. My whole family has converted to apple- and a year later I still am in contact with almost all of the 200+ people I worked with. As much as I believe in myself, my illustration and talent- it's because of Steve's passion, belief and company that I finally have the courage to go for my own dreams.

I don't like corporations as a whole- it feels unnatural and full of "airs"... much like politicians trying to get something for very little because of a handshake and plastic smile. Apple is different- it's not just perception- it's a lifestyle and type of person- "we are only as good as our people". Thank you for making me one of those people. One day I hope to work with Apple again in some capacity and am grateful to have been a part of the Apple family during such an exciting time.

For the tech that keeps me going, the tools to know how to get there and the courage to follow my passion- thank you Steve.

Today the world has lost an incredible dreamer that wasn't afraid to make his dreams a reality and build a corporation full of charisma, connection and creativity. I know speaking as a former (and always in my heart) member of the Apple family- the deepest of sympathies go out to his friends and family on this difficult day.

No complaints from me though. I'm a weird one, I actually LIKE rain.

Illus.Friday: Ferocious

This weeks theme? "Ferocious" and of course I didn't first think of war... or wild animals... anything even remotely terrifying- nope! I instantly thought of cute fuzzy lil puppies shaking the stuffing out of their toys.

Ferocious lil munchkins that they are. Ferociously adorable.

Experimenting with a newish-style I haven't used in a while, tough thing about illustrating is keeping a consistent look in all that you create- like quality control with images. It's not unlike musicians- Coldplay sounds like Coldplay... you hear a song you can recognize it's them. They don't sound like The Rolling Stones or Bob Marley- it's brand (band) recognition.

Guess all creatives are in the same boat when it comes to that.

Anyhow, hope you like my terrifying lil fluffy studio assistant.

OH man, I hope I didn't drop an M&M down there...

For the last several months I've been... well for lack of a better term "incapacitated" with a bad back.
I've missed a wedding, countless birthdays, trips and by some miracle made it just in time to see the Chihuly exhibit at the MFA... there are worse things in life.

A good year (or more?) ago a friend of mine asked that I reproduce a fantastic photo taken by Horst for (I believe) Vogue magazine. I love this photo, always have, it's titled "Mainbocher Corset, 1939".
So here I am, unable to sit or stand for prolonged periods when my ortho doc tells me out of the blue in this thick Italian accent that I "need to get myself a corset". It seems- this will help my back, and it has helped.

Women for generations have pinched, tucked, squeezed and sucked it in all in the name of fashion and beauty- who would've guessed that something I'd need for medical reasons would be so... vogue?

Today, we remember.

"When boundaries are broken, memory remains."
No one can forget. Invisible lines of basic human dignity are just, understood.... and when they are crossed in a way far beyond imagination and the darkest of dreams.... the world is never the same and innocence is lost.
On the most beautiful of mornings- whether you were commuting, waking up, showering, talking to someone, living in NYC or London... California or Massachusetts... while many lived a nightmare.... the rest of america was glued to their screens, cell phones, radios and landlines. Praying. Shocked. Scared... and everything changed.
And after ten years.... we can never forget.

To the families and friends. To the heroes. To the New Yorkers there that day. To the former symbol of all that makes our country great- and still does just in a different way... may we never forget the horror, the strength, the people and their stories.

I can't remember if I posted this.... it's been a rather... blustery? week thus far.
We started out with Hurricane Irene (and yes I'm totally illustrating something in her honor) which knocked out studio & home power for 5 days. Irene-refugee tis me!

It's been interesting, meeting lots of folks while in search of showers, internet and places to charge my apple tech.

Yesterday I sat across from a man that looked like Don Cheadle. Only this guy looked really grouchy while Don happens to be a favored actor that smiles a whole bunch.

-A nurse that gave up her life to spend 6months a year in Africa helping children find clean drinking water and battle simple illnesses and diseases. She was awesome and all kinds of cheery goodness.
-A semi blind man who likes to walk laps in the library just because.
-And a lady who had a macbook across from me with the sound ON- so every time she got mail and it *binged!* I feel into pavlov's-mac habit and thought it was mine. hahahaha

Fun facts about losing power and water after a storm:

It takes roughly a full gallon of water to flush your loo/bog/potty etc etc. (an you put the water in the tank not the bowl)
A LOT of TMI comes out during a storm, people tell you things you really don't need to know.
Cold showers are not AS awful as one would think- you actually wake up really fast!
When all else fails and you can't find bags of ice- check a Mobile station.
Just throw the meat out. Don't try to save it.
It's a really good excuse to get new undies- and those Tide portable stain stick things are amazing.
The Red Cross Disaster Relief trucks really DO exist.
Coffee is your friend, milk kept in a cooler is a friend of a friend you may not want to know better.
Iced tea does in fact mold.
Ice cream lasts less than 3hours in a downed freezer.

and last but not least-

giant boxes of matches rule
take out is fantastic
it's not such a bad idea to look into building a windmill in ones back yard....

Like grinding the gears to chum in a standard shift car and the poor thing just goes "gggrrrrroaaaan... clnk...clnk... ping!" and dies in the middle of the road.
No, I've never done that... ever. maybe. once.

Art Bling!

Well hello! So like I said earlier this week I've been busy. This week I took on the challenge of jewelry making. Earlier this month I grabbed a ring making course in Jamaica Plain's own Stonybrook Fine Arts center and metal shop. These guys are amazing- and bonus- one of the owners happened to go to college with me (small world huh?).
I now have a vast respect for anyone working with metals... while I liked the torches and pounding things with hammers and texture tools... I gotta say the measuring to the enth millimeter is... well let's say it was a learning experience and I'm fine not having to file anything again.
I may try some metal clay however... think that may be more my medium.

Looks Good Mumma! No bones tho...

ANYhow. I've started to play with glass and sterling coated brass and so far finding it rewarding. :)
A few days ago my mail inspector checked out my supplies to be sure they were in order- and voila! Results! I'm really liking the texture of the glass making each piece completely different and unique.
Hope you like em, they'll be on sale soon! :)

It's true. And I truly apologize! Well, mostly apologize.
So while the summer has progressed and I've been doing things like running through this:

I've also been busy creating up a storm of new things to share and delight and surprise all of you lovely people. Starting with an Illustration Friday: The theme being "Soak" (LONG OVERDUE)

Yes, I've seen "Splash", and yes I've seen the latest Pirates movie... and of course I dream of having a soaking tub that doesn't make one choose between submerged knees OR shoulders. But these were not influenced by any of that. I just wanted to draw things I liked and thought were fun. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did making them :)

COMING SOON- I'm updating (yes I know... again?) my website and adding a swanky new storefront to it. Be prepared for a series of cards, new and old illustrations, paper goods, jewelry, magnets and more for sale as well as original prints and fine art pieces.
OHHH the goodies yet to come.

I know, not a glamorous way to put it... but still the sentiment rings true. This however is an image I'm far more than pleased with. It's meaning should speak for itself.

Disaster Relief

It's funny to me how the world has become so small for me. I'm from a small-ish southern Massachusetts town... somewhere between white and blue collar. The only people I knew that traveled or were from other places were Portuguese, had family in the Phillappines or the British Isles.
Now?
Some of my closest friends and loved ones are from or all over the globe. From Singapore and Malaysia, to Hong Kong, India, Italy, Hungary and Japan.

I'm fortunate that those I care for affected by the quake and tsunami are all safe, that their loved ones also are safe and far from the disaster. However it hits close to home. As any disaster should really when you think about it. Lives can change in a second.

With that in mind- and as I'm a stereotypically artist of humble financial means... I want to do my part in helping, as I'd hope others would help me and my loved ones. SO I'm selling prints from a new series I've developed digitally.

Each print will be $20 + shipping, each signed and numbered and shipped in a sealed water resistant envelope. As stated 75% of the profit goes DIRECT to the RedCross, I only keep what's required to purchase the raw materials. PLEASE pass this on and spread the word.
More and more artists and crafters are doing this to raise money for others... it's important we all do what we can!

I'm brainstorming right now how to develop an artists non-profit to raise money for disaster relief. A way to join all that wish to help by raising funds via their natural talents: to make something beautiful from something so jarring, horrific and heartbreaking. Keep posted as I'll be updating as things develop. Also- keep an ear out for "Art+Unity=Artunity". As the world gets smaller, here's hoping peoples hearts grow larger.

So the other day a talented illustrator (who just happens to be the sister of a dear old college pal) posted that several friends of hers did portraits of her for fun. Well, that just gave me a neat idea. Good practice. SO she's lil red-riding hoodie and instead of a big bad wolf I have an abnormally HUGE freaky grandma squirrel greeting her at the door. My sister is terrified of squirrels, my best friend finds them joyously mischievous (aka the animal version of her) and me? well I'm indifferent aside from the fact that I think it's super cool how they hold things like people in their tiny lil fingers. ANYway... enjoy and feel free to share/pass it on as long as credit is given. ;)

Being a mom to a furry lil companion (cockapoo) I learned not too long ago that when a dog park states a no-poo policy, be fore-warned that many don't follow the rules.
ESPECIALLY in the winter when everything freezes. Thus I created an illustration sporting that warning to the uninformed! :)

So of course I thought bees... I also thought of another bug I'm not too fond of... butterflies. Yeah I know, they're supposed to be a sign of spiritual depth etc... but I had a freshman yr. roomie in college who was OBSESSED with them. Rather turned me off. So for me? A swarm of butterflies would be both beautiful and a bit disturbing. ;) Hope you enjoy these! Cheers!

The girl on the lake

I've been a wee bit busy lately expanding my supply of illustrations and putting color to my piles upon piles of sketches and ideas. So exciting! Stay tuned for more!
This is a primer, something in process but so far I'm rather pleased.

When I was a little girl my family used to vacation on a lake in Maine. Late at night (because I was a never-sleeper kind of child) I would sneak out of my bunk bed, down the hall and sneak out to the dock. Looking back it was not the smartest thing to do... pitch black... but to this day I will never forget how the sky and the water seemed to go on forever, the milkyway reflected in the deep dark of the lake and how much I felt like this place was my own secret magical haven.
We stopped going when I was 12, and to this day, I still miss it. One day I'll return, but for now my memories grow more vivid as each year passes and my fondness for it never ceases.

Illustration Friday- Reverse

Well, it's Illustration Friday again and this week it's "reverse".
So of course I have a feisty chick riding a bike backwards... I mean how could I not?
Upon showing her to my great aunt she proclaimed that she looks a LOT like my grandmother did when she was young (of course I see my mom- but hey, makes sense).

The week has been busy- full of snow and wait... more snow and OH yeah.... MORE snow. The North East was virtually buried, and as is MY theme for this winter, I've been hibernating with my technology, my pencils and my ideas. ;)

One of it's members asked me not long ago to help come up with a logo that would help their foray into the business side of things. And of course- being between gigs and excited about the prospect of working on/in a wonderful project like this- how could I refuse?

A place where classes are taught, a kitchen is available to caterers and chefs for large meals and projects or commercial purposes... a location where the farmers, cheese-makers, bakers, specialized local growers can sell their wares and co-op/food sharing citizens can pick up their produce.

WELCOME to the new and improved Kairn Design blog!

I decided to make a move from another hosting site as it seemed MANY more illustrators were networked here and the freedom to design the look and feel of this- well works much better for me.

It's been a busy few months.. I've taken on some new challenges, one being creating MORE digital pieces. Don't worry, I still create everything by hand, now just use industry standard tools to put all the pieces together and polish them up a bit!

Right now I'm working on 2 series of greeting cards- one for the more jock inclined and one for the more artsy. I've also taken on a MAJOR project in the form of a children's book titled "flippers" which I'll be posting images of in due time as well as sending out copies to publishers in the hopes that this sweet little story will find its way into the pudgy hands of munchkins from all over.

Meanwhile the mirrors I created are now FOR SALE at my etsy shop, soon to follow will be a line of jewelry, leather accessories, cards, calendars and prints!

Here in new england the snow has reached well above our shins, everything is covered in white frosting and icicles. It's a perfect time to cozy up and sketch for you. So stay tuned I'll be posting FAR more regularly and with many more illustrations! Cheers and stay warm in this frosty new year!
